On the Attack at Thater
(Sunday August 30, 2009 - Binghamton, NY) Empire had a great ride in the 2009 edition of Chris Thater making for an exciting show. While ultimate winners, Planet Energy Pro Cycling made the race fast from the gun alternating attacks from Parisien and Langois the main break of the day consisted of 6-men; John Loenher (Empire/Northwave), Alejandro Borrajo (Colavita - Sutter Home), Mark Walters...
Mike Margarite 3rd at US Criterium Nationals!
Congrats to Mike for a great weekend of racing at Downer Grove. Margarite, generally designated as a long hilly road racer, makes a jump against the country’s best elite men taking the last podium spot. Stephan Kincaid finished a strong 7th and Hollenbach 13th.
The rain soaked course made for a dangerous tricky race. Margarite initiated the break after working his way up to the front...

Presbyterian Invitational Criterium →
See the recorded race highlights here at WBTV, Charlotte NC’s News source. Empire’s Daniel Zmolik started off the action in Charlotte by going on the first attack and winning an early $500 intermediate prime sprint. Upon his catch the team launched counter after counter animating the early part of the race and collecting additional intermediate sprint prizes. You can also read...

Empire kicks off August with some wins
Several squads were out representing Empire in three states this weekend. Jake Hollenbach took an impressive win at the Mt Equinox Hillclimb in Manchester VT. Jake bolted out of the gates, first to contest a $500 sprint bonus at the 1-mile mark of the 5.4 mile uphill assuault. This is always a gamblers move as no one has ever taken the 1-mile bonus and then gone on to win the race. The climb is...

Loehner on the podium in a hard fought Freedom...
John Loehner shows some steady form building initiating the winning break and taking 3rd to Kyle Wamsley (Colavita Sutter Home) at Sunday’s Freedom tour. John countered a move that was already well covered by Empire’s Kevin Molloy and Mike Margarite drawing out Wamsley, Colavita’s crit break specialist. The pair were later joined and Wamsley proved to have the best legs in the...
Ups and downs for John Minturn on the road to...
After a stellar ride at the Troy Classic on Saturday night, John Minturn was crashed out of Martinsburg after being hooked in an intermediate sprint. Minturn nearly single handedly widdled down Saturday’s Troy race incessantly attacking the late 7-man break bringing the race down to three men. Unfortunatley the two remaining riders were both teammates and able to attack John for the win. ...
Success at Fitchburg for second year in a row!
The 2009 Fitchburg Longsjo Classic drew one the most stacked fields we’ve seen in years. Full NRC squads lit up the slightly modified stage race. The most obvious difference was the lack of the Watchusset mountain top finish. The race was forced to removed the climb due to erosion and road damage. As a result the circuits themselves were raced harder and faster that ever. “This was...

Roads featured, gravel and dirt road sections, long climbs and beautiful scenary. Rapha created a page on their site to commemorate the day. As...

Podiums and Breakthrough rides this weekend.
The team was well spread out this past weekend preparing for several weeks of one days and stage races. A six man squad started things off in Lancaster, PA at the Tour of Ephrata, a two-day, three-stage race. John Minturn continued his roll into form with a 3rd place in the opening road race. While the team time trial didn’t go as well as planned the team was still able to maintain the 3rd...
